Congratulations to GOLD DofE award student Eliza Humphrey
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a nationally recognised award, open to any young person aged 14-24, regardless of ability, gender, background or location. The DofE programme consists of three progressive levels which, when successfully completed, leads to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. There are four sections to complete at Bronze and Silver level and five at Gold. They involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and, for Gold only, working with a team on a residential activity. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries. Through a DofE programme young people have fun, make friends, improve their self-esteem and build confidence. They gain essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication and drive, enhancing CVs and university and job applications.
Here at Northampton School for Girls we have been running the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme for many years. We are a Directly Licensed Centre (DLC), enabling us to deliver DofE programmes to young people on our own premises, under our own license. We are pleased to be able to offer our students the chance to participate in this fantastic opportunity, enrolling students onto their Bronze Award in year 9, onto Silver from year 10 and onto Gold from year 12. We currently have well over 200 students in years 9-13 working on their awards. We work closely with our Approved Activity Provider, Badger Adventures, and deliver high quality, safe expeditions at Bronze, Silver and Gold level.
Once your child has signed up we share links to documents such kit lists, activity logs and volunteering guides.
If you have any questions about the award please contact Mrs Bright, our DofE Manager DofEManager@nsg.northants.sch.uk
